Wake up to warm hearty Slow Cooker Apple Oatmeal. Let the crockpot do the cooking all night long for you! Juicy apples, oats, cinnamon and a touch of brown sugar make this deliciously healthy breakfast a perfect one to warm up with on a cold morning!
Prep Time 10 mins
Cook Time 6 hrs
Ingredients
- 1 large apple or 2 small I used Gala
- 2 c rolled oats regular or gluten-free
- 2 1/2 c milk of choice
- 1-2 T maple syrup or honey
- 1 T brown sugar
- 2/3 c apple sauce
- 2-3 T chopped pecans or walnuts
- 1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 – 1 T cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp sea salt
Instructions
- Core and chop apple into bite-sized pieces.
- Spray slow cooker generously with spray oil. Combine all ingredients except the pecans/walnuts into the slow cooker and stir to combine.
- Cover and cook on low for 2-3 hours or until liquid is absorbed and apples are soft. If you want to cook overnight, add an extra 1/3 – 1/2 cup of milk, cover and set to “Keep Warm” setting. Add an extra splash of milk or cream if a bit dry when ready.
- Before serving, stir in chopped nuts of choice and serve with an optional drizzle or honey or maple.
Notes
If your slow cooker doesn’t have a “Keep Warm” setting, I suggest putting it to low and only cooking no more than 4 hours–maybe cook at night before bed and chill until breakfast.
